NDIS older claims are the subject of extra checks announced for 15 October 2026. This guide explains the published update and offers practical questions to help you organise outstanding paperwork and communicate with the person responsible for the claim.
A clear record of the support you receive makes payment conversations easier. A new NDIA announcement is particularly relevant if there are invoices or claims that have been waiting for some time.
NDIS older claims: what changed on 15 October
In its announcement dated 5 October 2026, the NDIA says claims submitted more than 90 days after a support was delivered will face extra integrity checks from 15 October 2026. Claims submitted within 90 days will continue through the usual process.
An older claim may be held for up to 28 days while checks are completed. The NDIA may request further information or evidence before paying it, and says it will explain the reason if a claim is rejected. This announcement concerns extra checks; it should not be read as saying every older claim is automatically rejected.
Review outstanding paperwork
Set aside time to identify invoices, service dates and any payment questions that are still unresolved. Keep related correspondence together so the person handling the claim can follow the history. If you use a plan manager, ask them which items need attention rather than assuming a provider invoice has already become a completed claim.
Organise information in a way that works for you. A simple folder, an accessible digital record or a list prepared with someone you trust may help you see what is outstanding. Do not send personal information to an unfamiliar contact simply because a message mentions a payment.
Useful questions to ask
- What date was the support delivered?
- Has the claim been submitted, or is an invoice still being processed?
- Who is following up any missing information?
- What supporting records are available?
- How will you be told if more information is required?
These are prompts for organising a conversation, not instructions to alter a claim or a service date. If you are unsure how the announcement applies to an individual claim, contact the NDIA or the person responsible for handling it.
Clear arrangements with your provider
Before support starts, ask how invoices, service information and payment questions will be communicated. Our guide to understanding your service agreement gives you more questions to bring to that discussion.
At Holistic Health Support, you can begin by explaining the everyday assistance you need and asking about the proposed arrangements. Our whole-person approach gives your needs and preferences a place in the conversation. It does not replace NDIA decisions about claims or payment.
Keep the next step focused
For a question about our services, contact the team with the issue you want to clarify. For a claim decision or the meaning of the new checking process, use the official NDIA announcement below. Keeping those conversations specific helps you reach the right source of information.
NDIS older claims: common questions
Where can I read the official NDIS older claims update?
The NDIA announcement linked below explains the additional checks and their start date. Use that notice when preparing questions about an older claim. An individual payment decision should be discussed with the NDIA or the person responsible for handling the claim, using the relevant records.
What information can help organise a payment question?
Keep the invoice, support date, related correspondence and any request for further information together. Check who is responsible for the next action. If you use a plan manager, ask whether the claim has been submitted rather than assuming an invoice means the claiming process is complete.
How can I clarify future invoicing arrangements with a provider?
Ask how service details, invoices and payment questions will be communicated before beginning support. Explain your preferred way to receive information and who you want involved. Clear contact arrangements make it easier to identify and follow up a question without relying on assumptions about what has happened.
